There are not many baseball indoor drills that can be done unless a stadium is available. Since this is not a reasonable assumption that many youth teams can use a venue like that, other alternatives are needed.

To improve a players hitting ability there are batting cages. These are available in a variety of places in every major town in America. This will help a player develop his hitting ability over the long cold winter months when practicing outside is not an option.

Fielding training indoors is a different matter. Some players can use a gym to play catch, but hitting the ball on a smooth wooden surface will only create a predictable path for the ball to follow. Not to mention the dents in the floor that will occur and cause the gym owner to not allow practice any more.

With the introduction of the ReactionPro pad, indoor fielding training can occur is a smaller space now. A garage or basement can now be the location for a concentrated workout involving practice on the bad hop ball. Two players can throw the ball back and forth with each time the ball hitting the pad.

Close quarters will make their instincts improve or they will be missing a lot of balls. Practice is what makes every player better and this indoor drilling over the winter will have a significant effect on each participating players defensive skills in the coming year.

Another advantage of this kind of close quarter training over the winter is the bond a set of infielders can form. A team is an effort by many, and the more teammates play together the better they will function as a unified group.

As a coach you should encourage your team to participate in baseball indoor drills over the winter. Each player will benefit along with the team as a whole. As a player you should make sure your coach and your parents know about this website and the training pad.
